Graduate: Academic Support: Hold for Academic Performance
Students attending UCF are expected to perform at a certain level academically. Graduate students in the College of Engineering and Computer Science that do not maintain satisfactory academic standing at UCF are placed on hold for poor academic performance. Satisfactory academic standing at UCF is defined as a minimum program of study GPA of a 3.0. When a student's GPA (not term GPA) falls below a 3.0 he or she will be placed on hold for academic performance.
If a student goes on hold there are several things they need to be aware of. First when on hold for poor academic performance, if a student earns a term GPA below a 3.0 they will be reverted from their program. A student that is reverted must work with their department graduate coordinators to determine if action can be taken for readmission into their program. There is no guarantee a student will be readmitted. For more information regarding reversion, readmission, and policies and procedures please see the graduate catalog. In order to assist students in avoiding being reverted, the college places poor academic performance students on hold. This hold requires students to meet with their graduate coordinator before registering for courses. The college has developed an Academic Performance Form to be completed and signed by a graduate coordinator. The form should be turned in to the Academic Affairs Office (AAO) in ENGR 107. Once the form is received, AAO staff will remove the hold temporarily allowing the student to register. This hold will be permanently removed once the student has achieved a 3.0 program of study GPA.
A student is removed from hold, and considered in good standing, once their program of study GPA is a 3.0 or higher. Once this occurs the college will remove the mandatory advisement hold, but students are encouraged to continue seeking advisement each semester.
If there are questions regarding status, holds, or academic standing, please contact your department office or the Academic Affairs Office (AAO).
